Pathfinder

What makes this boat different from other Freedom Hawk Models?
We designed this boat for anglers wanting to fish in all water conditions. The original Freedom Hawks were designed for shallow water and protected water fishing. This boat was designed for 2-200 feet of water. Additionally we made it to fish “sit-down” as well as any other fishing kayak on the market. We recommend for all day sit down fishing the addition of our elite angler seat.

What accessories should I consider adding to this boat?
If you want to use a motor, the motor mount will be necessary. If you like to site and fish, troll, or have a bad back you should consider the elite angler seat. Fly fisherman should add a fly rod adaptor or the rail mount rod holder. If you fish flats, you should definitely consider adding one of the push poles.

How should I transport?
We suggest removing the outriggers. It will lighten the boat to only 60 pounds and also makes it smaller (10 feet).

How does it compare to other kayaks in terms of efficiency and paddling performance?
This is definitely are best paddling boat. V has been added for secondary stability with outriggers closed. Extra volume and Carolina Flare have been added to the bow to help in wind and bigger sea/wave conditions. You should feel comfortable fishing this boat offshore or in big lakes and bays.

General FAQs

Can I use the Freedom Hawk in Saltwater?
The hull and all of its parts are designed and constructed to withstand salt water corrosion.  That being said it is best to rinse the entire boat after use in salt, dirty, or polluted water.

Can I add additional rod holders to my boat?
Yes. We sell rail mount rod holders specifically designed to fit most fly and spinning/casting rods.  The rod holder mounts in seconds to the casting brace.  Additionally, most aftermarket rod holders can be added to the boat.

How do I purchase a Freedom Hawk?
We have almost 100 quality dealers nationwide selling our product. For a list of dealers in your area please contact our customer service department. If we do not have a dealer in your area we can make arrangements to have a boat shipped to you.

How is it best to propel the boat?
That is the beauty of the Freedom Hawk. In deep water conditions the Freedom Hawk can be paddled like a traditional kayak (we recommend a 230 cm paddle). When standing the kayak can be poled using the optional push pole or paddled using the kayak paddle like a canoe paddle. Some customers have installed motors using aftermarket motor mounts.

What sort of anchor shall I use?
Based on bottom conditions and current you can use a variety of anchors. We offer a 3 pound anchor as an accessory. We feel this is one of the best general anchors for all around use.
